I had a couple of wonderful swims in Lake Travis on Thursday (61 degree water) and Sunday (59 degree water). Yes, the water was cold. But after the initial shock, it felt great.
Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) Sandy and Bridger kayaked along with me. It was windy. So, on the way out (into the wind), they had a harder time. On the way back, they didn’t really need to paddle. But in addition to enjoying swimming in the choppy waters, it was fun watching them enjoying each other’s company while I swam.
Yesterday, Sandy kayaked with me. It was pretty choppy every way we went. I think it was harder for her kayaking than it was for me swimming. And, although, like Thursday’s swim, the water was cold and the lake angry; it was gorgeous out, the sky was crystal clear and the scenery spectacular. Best of all, I felt much better in the water than I have in a long, long time.
Friday and today, I swam at Deep Eddy. The water seemed warm after the Lake, but was nice. I had a good swim on Friday and felt great today. I can’t wait to get in again.
