The Deep Eddy Mile is up this Saturday, August 17. If you’ve swum this before, you know how much fun it is. If you haven’t, you missed out. This is a truly unique event. (Where else do you get to race a distance that is only six and two thirds yards long of a mile, the closest to an actual mile you’ll ever race in a pool.) Moreover, it has always been a wonderful atmosphere. And, you are sure to meet a bunch of really nice people.
Deep Eddy has been overcrowded this year. Partially as a result, the water has most often been warmer and murkier than most years in the past. I’m told, however, that the staff will be draining the pool, giving it a good scrubbing, and adding fresh, cool water for the event. If it is as good as it was this morning, it’ll be very good. (I’d say “it’ll be great,” but those of you who know me, will know I yearn for the wells to spout colder water than we’ve had at any time this summer.)
There’s still time to enter. Just go to www.AmericanSwimmingAssociation.com if you’d like to join in the fun.
Hopefully, I’ll see you on Saturday.
